This was a hunt that was delayed from May due to lack of participants. I picked out one of the hunt scenarios I keep on hand. Since there would be only 2 hunters, this one would be one reasonably close to home.
I drove up to the site of the main T (T1) which was on a ridge 5 miles up a dirt road (6N08) that met Bouquet Canyon at Bouquet reservoir. Bouquet Canyon is off of Lake Elizebeth Rd, west of Palmdale. T1 had an 11-element beam pointed at the starting point. This was fed with a 30-watt transmitter. The most unusual part of all this is that it was on the air at 9:45. Both hunters heard it at some point. Since T1 was on the south side of the ridge, it could not generally be heard on Lake Elizebeth Rd or Bouquet Canyon.
T10 (4W) was next on a forestry road (6N04) a few tens of a mile north of Bouquet Cyn, not far from 6N08. From T10, T1 and T8 could be heard. If the hunters came up Bouquet Canyon, T8 would lead them toward the other Ts. If the hunters came in from Palmdale, T10 would lead them toward T1 via T10.
T8 (4W) was hidden on Godde Rd by a water tank. From here, T7 and T10 could be heard.
T7 was a 3W T into a horizontal beam pointed toward T8. It was up a dirt road that came off of Lake Elizebeth Rd near 10th street. T5 (50mW) was across Lake Elizebeth Rd from the T7 road.
Both hunters were able to find all the Ts. There was another ham (KQ6JO) in the area of T1 when RXX/JEI found it and he also signed in to T1.
