Hunt Story

Wanted to create a hunt with a difficult main transmitter bounce and several more easier T's in the area. One of the hunters took our bait and headed out 8 East. The others worked their way North. The main transmitter was 35 watts into an 11 element beam pointed at Cuyamaca Peak. It provided an excellent bounce that stumped most of the hunters. Three of the other four T's were lower power on omni antennas with T-5 on a four element beam. We had great fun watching the APRS tracks. The first transmitter found by any of the teams was the Train Horn micro by ZM/PHB at 12:30. They also found T-1 first at 1:40. The distance traveled between transmitters once one was found was ZM/PHB 14 miles 3Hours 50Minutes, RXX 15 miles 1Hour 46Minutes, SZO/BAF 13.5 miles 1Hour 39Minutes. KM6ORF had to abandon the hunt early after finding one T (T-3) at 3:31 with 119 miles. The winner with 5 T's and 80 miles is ZM/PHB. Second place is SZO/BAF 5 T's 114 miles. Third place is RXX with 5 T's and 125.1 miles.

Dinner was at Mamma Ramona's in Ramona where they served a wonderful Molto Caldo Dolce pizza!
