T HUNTERS:
Thank you hunters for coming out. I had a great day in the mountains.
One hunter found all the transmitters, but had the most mileage, and most mileage from the first transmitter to the last. Three teams found 6 of 7 transmitters. KF6GQ/KD6LAJ had the lowest total mileage, shortest time from first transmitter to last, and lowest average mileage per transmitter.
So with all this, I find the team of KF6GQ/KD6LAJ the winner.
See attached updated google map and spread sheet.
On the way up angeles crest hwy T 2 (1.5W) transmitter was places at the old burned out clear creek station off angels forest hwy. I then traveled up angeles crest hwy to sulpher springs rd. to 3N17. T1 was located at the first switch back below the saddle on 3N17. It was hoped that it would be heard at the starting point but this did not work out. T1 was a 25W transmitter with an 11 element Yagi pointed towards Hwy 14 to bring hunters up the back way. N6MI could not hear T1 so T6 (3N90 water tank) was turned on but could not be heard with the rubberduck. A 4 element Yagi (1.5W)was added and tied to a tree stump. This was heard and the hunt was on. T3 (1.5W id T4) was off 5N04. T4 (1.5W id T3) was off Hwy 2 near 3N07. T33 film can 10mW ¼ mile below T4 was attached to snow marker. Last, Tvoice was in turn out above lower Chilao Rd.
Thank you again for coming out.
